The B'omar patrol ship, a compact starship, served the B'omar Sovereignty for space protection. It packed directed energy weapons and torpedoes, along with shield defense. Strategically, it fell short compared to a Federation Class 2 shuttle. In 2374, USS Voyager's attempt to traverse B'omar space was intercepted by patrol ships bearing B'omar representatives. During talks, Seven of Nine pilfered a shuttle, venturing into B'omar space and confronting several patrol ships en route to the SS Raven's wreck. Upon Seven's return, a sixty-eight-ship B'omar fleet compelled Voyager's retreat from B'omar space.
